The History & Mission of Stickler & Associates
Stickler & Associates was formed as an independent insurance agency in 1989 offering multiple lines of personal and commercial insurance, including life insurance and health insurance, representing a number of insurance carriers. Stickler & Associates also provides real estate services. Insurance coverages offered include personal and commercial automobile insurance, homeowners insurance, condominium insurance, renters insurance, dwelling insurance for rentals and vacant property, personal and commercial umbrella insurance, business owners insurance and commercial packages, as well as commercial general liability insurance and commercial property insurance for building and contents for almost any type of business need.
We also offer workers compensation insurance and different types of bonds. We write insurance policies for motorcycle, ATV, golf carts, recreational vehicles, travel trailers and watercraft. We have a number of carriers that we can use to offer a competitive life insurance program or disability income insurance coverage to meet your budget and need.
We also offer individual and group health insurance, including dental coverage.
The agency was founded by Melvin T. Riddle and David T. Stickler Jr. in 1969 in the Okolona area of Louisville, Kentucky. David T. Stickler bought out Mr. Riddle in 1989 and changed the name to Stickler & Associates, moving the operation to the Fern Creek area.
His son, Greg Stickler was brought in as a full time agent and named president in charge of the insurance operation. Brian Stickler came into the agency in 1998 as a real estate agent and appraiser and was named vice president in charge of operations. The agency moved to its present location in the Highview area of Louisville in 1994. Greg & Brian Stickler purchased the operation from their father David in 2011. They continue to offer competitive multiple lines of insurance to meet almost any need as well as real estate services.

David T. "Tom" Stickler, Founder
Agency Broker & Realtor
Tom founded the agency in 1969 with Melvin T “Tom” Riddle as an independent agency. Back then it was named Riddle & Stickler Agency, Inc., operating in the Okolona area. In order to launch the agency, he left Commonwealth Life Insurance Co.
Tom later purchased the agency from Mr. Riddle in the late 1980s, changed the name to Stickler & Associates Agency, Inc., and moved the operation to Fern Creek.
In 2001, he retired from the insurance agency and sold the business to his sons, Greg & Brian Stickler. Besides being a licensed insurance agent selling life, health, property & casualty Insurance, Tom is a licensed Realtor and broker, overseeing the real estate operation. Tom now handles the accounting books for Stickler & Associates and assists as needed in the agency with staff and clients.
Gregory T. Stickler, President
Greg obtained his insurance license at age of 18 for Property & Casualty, Life and Health. He sold insurance on a part-time basis while pursuing his degree in Civil Engineering Technology at Western Kentucky University, graduating in 1983. He was on scholarship competing in riflery for WKU during his time there. Greg continued selling insurance part time while working in his field of study until 1986.
He went through a two-year comprehensive insurance program called PRIME that was offered by Aetna Life and Casualty and then joined the agency on a full-time basis in 1988. Greg obtained his LUTCF designation while in the training program. He has attended many programs and classes to educate himself on all types of insurance over the years. He has even taught insurance classes as requested.
Greg is married to his wife of 33 years, Mary Pat, who is a vice president with Hosparus Health KY. She is an RN with a MSN and MBA. He has a son, Dr. Thomas J. Stickler, DVM that is a veterinarian, and daughter, Margaret Stickler, a student at SCAD in Savannah, GA.
Greg has also logged countless hours as a volunteer in the Louisville area. He is the PA announcer for Fern Creek High School, his alma mater, for their basketball games and works in the press box for the football games. He is past member of the Buechel-Fern Creek Jaycees, holding many offices, and USJCI Senator. He is a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. Greg strives to offer the best service that he can to any of his clients and prospects while trying to offer the best price to meet their needs. He is in charge of the Insurance Operation of the Agency.
Brian Stickler, Vice President & Realtor
Brian is the vice president in charge of agency operations for Stickler & Associates. He writes and services clients for both personal and commercial lines of insurance.
Brian is also a licensed real estate agent, helping clients purchase or sell their homes. In addition to representing clients, he assists with managing the agency's real estate department.
He has been involved in the agency since 1998 and became a co-owner in 2001.
Tara Gross, Realtor
Tara Came to the agency in 2001 when she was about to turn 20 years old. Not knowing what she really wanted to do with a career, she decided to try insurance. In 2003, she obtained her property and casualty license. Her expertise is in personal lines insurance, where she quotes, writes and services insurance policies.
Tara is also a licensed real estate agent. She has been working in Kentucky real estate since 2013 and specializes in residential buying and selling. Tara says, “I love helping people and being involved in the process when it comes to buying or selling a home. Clients become friends and I truly do want the best for each one of them.”
Outside of insurance and real estate, Tara is a wife to Joe and a mom to Taryn and Tanner. She serves on the PTA board at her children’s school and in her spare time enjoys having fun and living life with her family.
